Otakucon 2004 Pictures

We're back from Miami Beach...finally! The convention was okay...but it felt like the longest three days of my life! Like my Aussie friend Byron taught me the other day, the convention was a "mixed bag" (a little bit of everything - happy, disappointing, exciting, tiring, etc, etc...you get the idea). To top it all of, I got a cold...but I'll survive. Now it's back to the jungle to spend Christmas and finish packing up to move back to Orlando...yeay!!! (^_^)

But first, I wanted to share with you some of our cosplay pictures from the con! Enjoy!

Here I am posing with Johnny (voice-actor for Vash) after he signed my Vash plushie. When I saw him and called out his name, Johnny saw me with the corner of his eye and kept walking. I was like: "It's me, Mayleen!". His expression was priceless, "I didn't even recognize you with all the get-up!". On the last day of the con, Johnny was nice enough to share his strawberry Pocky with us.

Looks like Meryl found her Vash...at least for this picture anyway... (^^)'

Elaine and Evetzie also cosplayed characters from Trigun... Elaine was beautiful as Miss Stephanie and Evetzie was as cute as can be as Kuroneko. (=^.^=) Meow!

Self-group portrait of the Trigun clan.

Second day of the con, we were thrilled to cosplay Super Gals! Miyu, Ran and Aya.

Super Gal Ran Kotobuki eating a Japanese strawberry ice cream treat!

Self group portrait of Shibuya's greatest gals!

Even our brother got into the cosplay spirit as he tried our Cosplay Kingdom hats, including the Chopper hat.

Ravings of a Picky Girl

When I'm the photographer, my subjects get the very best pictures of them they could have...why is it that I can't have the same? Is it too much to ask to have nice pictures of myself taken by others? :( It is very frustrating to me every time I get reminded that not every one is capable of good framing. It's not a science people! Just don't leave any room on top of my head and none under my feet! Ay, me...

Moving Madness

This month has been HECTIC with capital H, E, C, T, I, C. One piece of good news is that we sold our house in the jungle...and now we'll be able to move back into civilization. Only not so good thing is that we have to move by the end of the month and we still have no place to move to. The house is full with boxes everywhere... and even when I have managed to throw out a lot of stuff...there's still too much to move...

I'm really looking forward to this weekend though...We'll be driving down to Miami on Thursday...and attending the Otakucon anime convention all weekend long...Time for Cosplay Kingdom to shine... \(^_^)/

I'll be posting new pictures from that con as soon as we get back...

Love ya guys!

Love & Marriage

Congrats to my sweetest cousin José and his new bride Leslie...attending the wedding was a surreal experience...I guess it still hasn't really sunken in yet...did my younger cousin (fifth in line) really got married before I did?! (^_-) Just kidding! I am glad he did because now the curse is broken! Hahahaha! Now I wonder...will the rest of the cousins get married in the order they were born?!

Because of the commotion of the real wedding, I had forgotten to report on the social status of my Sim...who got a surprise proposal while visiting her boyfriend Oz...and now they're happily married with a baby girl and another one on the way! Time moves way faster in SIM life...just so you know...Here are some pictures of the engagement and wedding!

Pictures of the Day

Um...No one was sitting next to me...

I guess I'll have to be affectionate to my doggy nephew Diezel...

This right here is the closest I'll ever be to a dog...

I WANT A KITTY FOR CHRISTMAS!!!!

Ravings of a Picky Girl

“All my dreams do not compare to my Savior’s arms…you’ll find me there…”
As I was singing those words this morning the realization of what I was saying really hit me. I have many dreams…some of them so big for little me that I get scared of not being able to see them come true in my own strength. I’ve fallen into the trap of measuring myself by means of human success –the things that I’ve accomplished and many failed attempts- and I send myself on never ending guilt roadtrip for being my own worst enemy. But today, if I got something out of the words that were spoken at church, I found out that Godly success focuses in the process… the valuable lessons that we learn on the journey to our dreams. Why God chose to do things the way He did? That is beyond my comprehension. One thing I understand though…one thing I believe…like I was singing this morning, all my dreams – both small and grandiose alike – are nothing when compared to having a relationship with God. When all seems lost, there is nowhere else I rather be than in His arms. I want to accomplish the dreams that have been born in my heart, mind, soul and spirit. But I pray for myself –and for every person- that my focus shifts from finding myself a successful person by the amount of dreams I get to fulfill, to finding true satisfaction in the things God wants to teach me along the way.

Picture of the Day

Seeing President Bush in person...the huge crowd of supporters there...the SWAT team, the police and Air Force plane as security and watching Air Force One take off and disapper between the clouds in the sky...was definitely categorized as a "movie moment" in my life. You know what I mean? It is an image you know or a feeling you've felt because you've seen it on the silver screen...but when you're actually there... it feels totally surreal...

Wimbledon

Oh my...I was a little skeptical about watching this movie...I am not a fan of movies that revolve around any sport...but I was drawn to watch it because I like both Paul Bettany (he's so funny in A Knight's Tale) and Kirsten Dunst (whom I have admired since her Claudia days in Interview with a Vampire). I didn't really know what the story was about...only that it was a love story...and I'm always a sucker for those, so I decided to go. I have absolutely NO REGRETS...I loved it. I don't feel like writing like a movie critic right now...but this movie had many elements that were awesome...even the beginning credits were funny... I loved the awesome digital and camera effects with the tennis ball moving from side to side and how the audience is allowed to listen to the main character's thoughts and see through his eyes...awesome. I even enjoyed the playing tennis bits of the movie because of this! And their love story...I was a little worried about the chemistry between these two actors (because of the age difference), but OMG ....they were perfect together...you believed that these two really fell in love...and you wanted to be just like them... This was definitely one of those movies where I come out of the theatre feeling like a need a boyfriend RIGHT NOW! The ending was so good...and tender...people in the cinema clapped at the end of the film...and this to me is extremely moving as well...I'm definitely going to add this one to my movie collection!
"TWO THUMBS UP!"

Awww...don't they look cute together? I want to take a picture like this one with my future boyfriend! (*-*)

Livin' La Vida Sim

The Sims 2 is so cool!!! I just had to say that! Thanks to Mike, I am hooked all over again... /(@_@)\

(^_^) hehehe So...I wanted everyone to meet the Sim version of me! I am amazed at how freakishly she turned out to look just like me (well, a skinny version of me anyway!!! (^_-) hehehe!) I even made little Sim Mayleen a Wonbin t-shirt for her to wear of course!(^_-)v

As usual, Mayleen keeping in touch with her
friends on the phone....

...and jumping around the house...

...burning the kitchen with her failed
attempts at cooking...

...crying for not having a boyfriend...

...preparing to take a bubble bath...

...and finally having a cutie over for dinner...

STAY TUNED FOR MORE FUNNY PICTURES! \(*^_^*)/
