On Thursday, February 2, 2006 Las Vegas flew to New York City to go see our favorite Korean singer Bi[Rain] in his first US concert. With a selection of pictures from the trip, I'll tell the story of our latest RAIN adventure!
Soli, Elaine and I were thrilled the moment we got to our hotel in NYC's Koreatown! I was in heaven...and felt like I was in Korea with so many hot Korean guys walking down the street...LOL (^_-)v Soli asked one of them to take this picture of us...
After walking around for a bit and having lunch, we headed back to the hotel to get ready for the concert...

The Madison Square Garden marquee: featuring the RAINY DAY concert advertisement.

We started waiting in line before 6pm for the concert at 8:30pm only to find out there were already 200 girls in front of us! (>_<) While in the line we made new friends and were interviewed about 10 times by KBS, SBS, MTV Korea and other Asian channels...they all wanted to know why we liked Bi[Rain] so much...I think we must have been the only Latin girls in line for this show. We were also recognized by girls from all over the world, from the picture we had posted online of the first time we met Rain last August...to them we were like their heroines! Some even took pictures with us while holding the picture!(^_-) hehehe

Inside the Theatre venue at the Madison Square Garden. Most of the audience was Asian...and it was a sold out show. We were on the right side of the mosh pit area...really CLOSE to the action...we were so excited we couldn't believe we were just minutes away from seeing our cutie-baby RAIN again!

Soli and Elaine posing with our two new Rain fan-friends. I don't think we asked them their names...before the show began some girls were pushing like crazy...Soli had to become the Great Wall of China...and Elaine almost fainted because she was using her energy to defend our place in the crowd...thank God that the girls started behaving and not pushing as much after the show began!

The moment Rain emerged on the stage with a bang of fireworks the screaming erupted...and the fun began...I'm not sure of the correct order of the pictures...I posted the best ones of the ones we took at the concert...so you can get an idea of how he looked during the show... (^_^)

Who said Rain was the only hottie on stage? This is one of Rain's dancers...my favorite one by the way...thanks to Janet for finding out his name...apparently Park Nam-Young. (^_-)v

Bi...his famous golden eagle buckle...and his cute bellybutton!

Let the rain fall down...

Bi...singing in the rain...

Rain gets drenched...what an awesome shot...good job ELAINE! (^_-)v

Bi up close...

Bi & Nam-Young...my two favorite guys that night!

Soli smiling in the midst of a white confetti storm at the end of the show...

Me and Soli after the show...smiling triumphantly...we were sure Rain had seen us in the crowd...we held our Miami picture high and he kept glancing over towards us...smiling and even waved us good-bye before leaving the stage...We were happy to have been there for him...and confident that he had seen us showing him our support...we even bought the Rainy Day glow stick...and waved them around while we danced and sang along to his songs in Korean or our made up Korean. Who cares anyway...we had LOTS OF FUN!

The sign of The Stanford Hotel...where we stayed for two nights. The hotel was nice...but everything was so small...no vending or ice machines...because it was so expensive we could only afford one room and the three of us had to share a full size bed...we slept across the bed with our feet hanging off the bed...but it was worth it! Rain was on the forecast for the next day...and we were like: "It better be!" (^_-)hehehe I couldn't wait for the next morning when we would go to the MTV Studios on Times Square.

The MTV building...where we were about to spend time with our sweetie Rain...and make a wonderful new memory that we would cherish for the rest of our lives...

Soli and I waiting under the rain on the side of the MTV building...the three of us stood in line for hours before getting in to Rain's up-close and personal performance for the taping of his TRL special.

On the line, we met and talked to a group of fans that had come all the way from Japan...they also wanted to take their picture with us... (^_-)v They showed us a clip from Bi's new Japanese single "Sad_Tango" on one of her cell phones. I also got to practice my Japanese a little...and they were saying that I almost sound Japanese...(^_-)v hehehe...I do my best! I wish I had the same ability with Korean...which I don't.. ;( boo hoo hoo...

(Pictures taken from a Rain fan site)
The crowd of girls who couldn't get in (they only allowed about 80 people to be the audience for the taping) were able to watch Rain on the Jumbo Screen on Times Square.

It took forever for the people who were on the list...and some other fans that Rain picked from the TRL window...to get into the building...there was lots of security as well, so we were not allowed to bring anything into the studio...that including our cameras...so I don't have any pictures from the actual taping...it sucks...but I have the movie of that experience playing in my head and my heart forever... (^_^)

At the MTV TRL Studios we also got to meet VJ SuChin Pak, who interviewed Rain and his manager JYP, who helped with translation. Rain did his best at talking and answering in English...he still has a long way to go, but has improved a lot since last time we met him... (^_^) hehehe...He's so cute...and almost everyone melted when SuChin asked him about how he felt debuting in NY and he said: "It's like like a dream. It's unbelievable..."
To us, what was like a dream and unbelievable was the confirmation we got from Rain himself that he remembered us from the last time in Miami. We had the feeling he had seen us at the concert...but now that we had him performing right on our faces...(we were literally not more than 2 feet away from the stage and on the first line of the audience)it was for certain that he knowingly smiled at us...and the best part...he even sang to the three of us individually!!! When he started performing his song "I DO" I was all smiles...this is my favorite song...and I had memorized all the words to it so that I could sing along for real...and I did...I couldn't believe my eyes, when I saw Rain walking towards the edge of the stage in the direction of Soli and started singing to her a bit of the song...
...then I see him moving towards Elaine...and he sings a bit of the song to Elaine...

...and by the time he was moving in my direction...I didn't know what to do...all I could think of was doing the heart gesture that Koreans do with their hands...and so I did...to my surprise, Rain did the heart gesture on top of his heart back to me...he smiled and winked...all the girls started screaming and I was so overcome with joy I think my spirit leaped out of my body for a few seconds... (Some girls were later telling me how jealous they were of me because Rain had sang to me and done the heart gesture!) Rain's actions truly demonstrated that he in fact remembered us...he didn't sing to anyone else during the performance...on the last song, he shook hands with other fans...but when he moved towards the three of us again, he slapped our hands (as in giving lo-fives!)...he looked happy...and I think that our showing support for him these last two times he's been to the States, might mean something to him...even if it's only a little...my heart really felt it...I know that in some little way Rain appreciates us as his first true-fans in the US...oh, how I wish we could cross over from being fans...to being friends...but I will settle for this...at least for now! (^_-)v hehehe

Unfortunately for us in the US, Rain's TRL special will only air on MTV Chi and MTV Korea...we found lots of pictures done by Getty Images...and Elaine created this gif from his performance...LOL I have also uploaded the MTV News Korea clip from the special that someone posted in some Rain fan website.
MTV News Korea- Rain's TRL performance clipWhen the taping of the special was over, the crew said goodbye to the audience, but they kept us inside (along with a couple of other fans)...we were then led to the greenroom area of the studios...where we saw the famous wall of photobooth headshots of all the stars that have been to TRL...including the one of TOM WELLING! Ok, but back to Bi...LOL!

Even though they still didn't let us bring our personal cameras, we were huddled into the room where Bi was being interviewed and we all posed together for a final picture. There was so much that I wanted to say to him...but not enough time...they got us in as fast as they got us out...luckily, our sweetie Rain said goodbye with a kiss...I still feel his lips on my right cheek! Plus...he smelled SOOOOO GOOOOOD...

Elaine, Soli and I took this picture in front of the MTV building still on the clouds(again making the heart gestures) to send to our MTV Korea angel Bernie Cho...a little gesture to thank him for hooking us up with another opportunity of hanging around with Rain...BERNIE, IF YOU'RE READING THIS: THANK YOU SO MUCH! MUCHAS GRACIAS! KAMSAMNIDA! We send you a big hug!

A view of Times Square from the MTV building...

Elaine and me posing on the other side of Times Square...

After eating dinner at one of the most expensive Olive Garden restaurants (we had been starving all day waiting for the MTV thing), I met my Japanese friend Yumi Arai...we have been online friends for over 3 years now... She's a sweet girl and it was so cool to finally talk to her in person! I practiced a bit of my Japanese with her as well (I got the same reaction, that I have a close to native Japanese pronunciation!). Since Yumi is now dating a PuertoRican...I taught her how to say "wepa!" and "santo!" (^_^) hehehe

We took the subway to Chinatown...but most of the stores were closed...again, we spent the whole day with the MTV thing with Rain (not that I'm complaining... I LOVED IT!) so we decided to go back to Madison Square Garden to see if they would let us back in so that we could buy Rain concert t-shirts (since we were not able to the night before)...The guy at the door told us that there was no way we could go in today with yesterday tickets...but through our boldness and help of God...we were successful in sneaking in...even with Yumi who had not a ticket! It was truly unbelievable...another example of God's favor...hehehe! So, we were able to go to the concession stand and buy the t-shirts, but unfortunately, they didn't have left overs of the concert program...oh, well...

We left our footprints on Madison Square Garden!

We waited until the second concert was over to see if we would bump into our friend Amy Chen (who came for Rain's concert all the way from California!)...to tell her all about the MTV experience...but we didn't see her... :( I guess, we'll keep in touch through email...I'm sure she'll read this article as well. It was nice to meet you AMY! (^_^)

Back in the hotel, we noticed that the hall by our room had the letter B! LOL Another hidden sign to commemorate our adventure! (^_-)v

After waiting outside in the cold, when we found out that Bi was having dinner at the Korean restaurant that was literally NEXT to our hotel...someone said he had already left...so, we gave up...at least for the length of this trip and went back to rest finally...our feet hurt so much...we had been on them all day! But all for RAIN! (^_^) LOL

Although we were not lucky again to take another picture with Rain, the day we were leaving our hotel, I noticed two of his dancers walking into our hotel!!! I didn't waste any time and asked them for a picture...the one on my right is Ki-Hyun...
...the one that I liked...LOL... LUCKY ME!
All in all this trip was amazing...I'm sure Elaine and Soli enjoyed it as much as I did...and we keep praying for RAIN...and for the day we meet again...GOD, LET IT RAIN more often in the US!!! (^_-)v We love you RAIN! Good luck & God bless!
PS
Rain expects to release his first English album in October...can't wait for that!!!
