Blame it on some creatively crazy Japanese people or just on the fact that I consider myself to be a creatively-crazy-cultural-sponge of sorts (and proud of it!), many of you know, I joined the cosplay movement a year ago! Happy Cosplay Anniversary to me! (^_-)v hehehe! By posting so many of my cosplay pictures I thought I'd explain or describe what cosplay is all about to the ones unfamiliar with this phenomenon, so here it goes!
COSPLAY is the Japanese word for masquerading generally done at anime conventions. The word 'cosplay' is derived from the words "costume" and "play".
So, what do you do when you cosplay?
1-You dress up as a fictional character from an anime, manga, or movie.
2-You can act like the character you're dressed up as and even do skits at cosplay contests!
3-You show off your costume to other anime convention goers, pose for pictures and have fun!
What in the world inspired me to get into cosplaying?
I have always loved dressing up in costume, when I was a kid at home, while working at Disney, even at my 25th birthday movie-costume party...need I say more?
After watching Karekano ( a popular Japanese anime show) and identifying myself with the main female character, Yukino, I thought it would be fun to dress up as her. And I did! It was lots of fun!!!
Cosplay Kingdom
Not too long after my cosplaying adventure began, my younger sister Elaine and I started producing our original online animations entitled
Yubikiri. Then one thing led to another and soon after that my mom also joined the madness and the three of us founded
Cosplay Kingdom. Making anime hats, cosplay accessories and props is now our full time job. It's demanding, but lots of fun...and we get to travel a lot too! This is just the beginning people! There'll be more to come in the future!!!(^_^)v
